The major British travel group will launch flights and holidays to Enfidha-Hammamet from five UK airports

Tunisia is confirming its renewed appeal among major players in the British travel industry. Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have announced the launch of flights and holidays to Tunisia from summer 2027, with a programme running from 1 May to the end of October.

Departures will be offered from five UK airports: Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and London Stansted. Flights will serve Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport, a strategic gateway to several of Tunisia’s key coastal tourism areas.

For Jet2holidays customers, the offer will include a selection of 3- to 5-star hotels located in destinations including Port El Kantaoui, Skanes, Mahdia, Sousse, Yasmine Hammamet and Hammamet.

Jet2, a major player in the British travel market

This announcement deserves attention because Jet2 is far from a secondary operator. Jet2.com is one of the UK’s leading leisure airlines, while Jet2holidays holds a major position in the British package holiday market.

Its model responds precisely to the expectations of British customers who value holidays that are easy to book, clear, secure and competitively priced: flights, accommodation, transfers and structured holiday packages. Adding Tunisia to this portfolio therefore reflects genuine confidence in the destination and in its ability to meet family, seaside, cultural and experiential travel demand.

Tunisia will join Jet2’s new summer 2027 destinations alongside Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh and Kavala/Thassos. In such a competitive environment, the announcement is all the more meaningful: Tunisia is returning to the radar of a major European source market with clear, compelling arguments.

Jet2 in brief

Commercially launched in 2002, with its first flight operating in February 2003, Jet2.com is now one of the major British leisure airlines. It is owned by the listed group Jet2 plc, which also owns Jet2holidays, launched in 2007 and now the UK’s largest tour operator. For the financial year ending 31 March 2025, the group carried 19.77 million passengers and generated revenue of £7.17 billion, approximately €8.28 billion.

During the 2025 peak summer season, Jet2 reported employing nearly 18,000 people.

A destination that is no longer limited to seaside holidays

In its announcement, Jet2 naturally highlights the sunshine, beaches, value for money and tourist resorts. But Tunisia’s appeal now extends far beyond that single promise.

The country can rely on a richness that travellers are increasingly seeking: medinas, ancient sites, gastronomy, craftsmanship, coastal villages, southern landscapes, hospitality, cultural experiences and a growing wellness offer. This diversity enables the destination to reach broader audiences, not solely focused on the traditional beach holiday.

This is undoubtedly one of the challenges for the coming seasons: to continue selling Tunisia as a sun destination, of course, while also telling a stronger story about what makes it stand out within the Mediterranean.

The British market, a strategic lever

This announcement follows a particularly strong year in 2025. Tunisia welcomed more than 11 million visitors, confirming a clear recovery and growth dynamic. The British market also recorded strong progress, with nearly 450,000 visitors from the United Kingdom, according to Travel Weekly UK, citing the Tunisian National Tourist Office for the UK and Ireland.

For Tunisian tourism professionals, Jet2’s programming from 2027 therefore represents more than a new air route. It strengthens connectivity, secures future flows and provides powerful commercial support among both independent travel agents and the British public.

Air access remains one of the decisive factors in tourism. The easier a destination is to reach, the easier it is to sell. By adding Tunisia to its programme, Jet2 is helping to establish this accessibility over the long term.

2026 in focus

Although this announcement concerns summer 2027, it comes at an important time for Tunisia, which is approaching the 2026 summer season with high ambitions. After the strong results recorded in 2025, the objective is now to confirm this progress, further improve tourism revenues and continue diversifying the country’s offer.

Mediterranean competition remains intense: Spain, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Morocco and Cyprus continue to hold a major place in tour operators’ programmes. But Tunisia has solid assets: proximity, value for money, climate, heritage, hospitality, regional diversity and strong wellness potential.

Jet2’s arrival therefore feeds into a positive outlook. It shows that Tunisia is once again attracting the interest of major international operators and that it can sustainably regain high-potential markets.

Tunisia now faces a clear challenge: to turn the excellent signals of 2025 into lasting momentum. The coming season will need to confirm this progress, while Jet2’s arrival from 2027 will open a new chapter in the tourism relationship between the United Kingdom and Tunisia.
