Since Swiss-born César Ritz  (1850-1918) opened it in 1898, the Ritz Paris has radiated opulence. French architect Charles Mewes (1858-1914) designed this historic property to resemble the palaces of Versailles and Fontainebleau. Inside the hotel, you'll find glittering chandeliers, intricate mouldings, sumptuous fabrics and extraordinary details such as bathroom sinks with gold swan-shaped taps.

However, the Ritz Paris balances this grandeur with timeless elegance, modern sophistication and warm service.

And this formula translates well on social media, which is why The Ritz Paris won Forbes Travel Guide's Instagram Hotel of the Year 2025 award in the annual Star Awards.

Readers and followers then selected the winner via an online poll which was based on the most popular hotel posts on FTG's Instagram account in 2024.

After major renovations that took place between 2012 and 2016, the hotel reopened in its original splendour, while incorporating modern elements and state-of-the-art technology.

Today, The Ritz continues to represent the pinnacle of Parisian luxury and history, attracting an international clientele looking for an exceptional experience in a historic setting.

Since February 2023, Laurent Herschbach of Luxembourg origin, has been at the helm of the palace as General Manager. He joined the hotel in 1997 and patiently worked his way up through the ranks (notably in the restaurant and accommodation departments) before reaching the top job. He invested himself fully in the project to reopen the hotel in 2016, with the aim of perpetuating the quality and shared values of the House, according to Ritz Paris.
